Producer Spotlight: Domaine Guiberteau
Few producers have ascended the ranks of Loire Valley wine royalty like Romain Guiberteau. His father, Robert, was instrumental in recognizing the hill of Brézé as a superior terroir within the village of Saumur, and wisely purchased parcels throughout the 1950’s. When Roberts' time for retirement came, however, none of his children had interest in taking over operations and their prized parcels of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc were leased out to other producers. For over 20 years, the Guiberteau name drifted back to obscurity.
