2021 Domaine Guiberteau, ’Les Chapaudaises’, Saumur Rouge, Saumur, Loire Valley, France

Called “the Clos Rougeard for a new generation,” Romain Guiberteau took back control of his family’s holdings in the late 90’s and has quickly established himself as a new benchmark producer in the Loire Valley. With vineyards centered around the famous hill of Brézé, Romain works several monopole sites which showcase true terroir through Saumur’s Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc grapes. 

'Les Chapaudaises' shows destemmed, old vine (circa 1948) Cabernet Franc in a stunningly understated presentation.
